Who We Are
Barbara Tello was born in Passaic, New Jersey but raised in Los Angeles, CA. From a very young age, she noticed the major social inequities that existed in society and became passionate about advocating and combating social issues. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis in children and adolescents. Since graduating she has focused on working with underserved communities through empowerment and advocacy. She is passionate about combating the stigma associated with mental health, specifically in communities where culture and poverty often limits access to mental health services. Currently, she’s pursuing her Master’s of Social Work at the California State University of Los Angeles. With her MSW she hopes to pursue a career path that will allow her to address and combat social issues through policy work.
Barbara is a big animal lover. She has a cat named moo, a name she gave him for his adorable cow appearance. During her free time, she enjoys watching comedy films, listening to podcasts, and reading. One of her favorite authors is Victor Villasenor.
