Who We Are
Born in Guatemala, Yasmin immigrated to Los Angeles in 2004, and has lived in the Highland Park area since then. In Guatemala, she worked as a preschool teacher, and then she completed her degree in social work from Universidad Rafael Landivar-Guatemala.
She worked in a variety of capacities for various nonprofits, including serving children with special needs, overseeing community banks directed to help women producers of coffee and beans for Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, and Fundabiem – (Teleton).
In Los Angeles, she became a nurse in 2014 after studying at Pasadena City College. Yasmin has worked as a medical assistant, live vocational nurse, and currently works as a nurse aid at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She then began pursuing her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Cal State Los Angeles. She is actively involved in volunteer work, such as TreePeople and the Child Life Department at CHLA.
