The Staff of Stars
The Bible says in Psalm 37:23, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” And so has it been for this man full of purpose and promise.
Stephen is a native of California growing up in the Compton and Long Beach regions. He graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor of Arts in Management in 2015, and Fuller Theological Seminary in 2021, where he earned a Master of Arts in Global Leadership from the School of Intercultural Studies. He firmly believes it is never too late to further your education. Realizing the great need to be trauma-informed, and dealing with his own trauma, he became a Certified Trauma Healing Specialist in 2023.
Stephen joined the Stars family as a group mentor volunteer in 2021, and now serves as the High School Program and Mentoring Manager. He has oversight of student academic assistance, mentoring, and valuable enrichments. He has a passion for global and local missions, evangelism, youth and young adult, and music ministries. In his ever evolving journey, he has gravitated to a missional focus on advocacy, social, and racial justice. He also brings to the table an extensive background with AT&T where he partnered with the local government of Los Angeles to build a successful company infrastructure.
Stephen has served in many capacities, but he considers his family to be his greatest accomplishment! “The family is our first ministry.” He is the father of two young adult children, Ashley and Alyssa, and has one granddaughter, Annalise. Stephen believes we should love and please God, love all people who are made in the image of God, and do all we can to use the gifts God gave us while we can. When he is not at work you can find him looking for a space to do what he loves…Sing.
