Jasmin Peña moved to Pasadena when she was eleven years old. After graduating from John Muir High School, Jasmin became the first in her family to attend college.

During her time at UC Davis, Jasmin was involved in student run-organizations such as MEChA and La Raza Pre-Law. She worked as a tutor for the Davis Unified School District and as an Academic Community Counselor for the UC Davis Department of Chicanx Studies. Jasmin conducted a senior thesis project that focused on the changes in DACA and how they impact DACAmented Latinx college students.

Before graduating, Jasmin spent a summer abroad in Cuba where she was able to study the Cuban Revolution and led to discovering her passion for pursuing a career in International Education.

Jasmin graduated with a degree in Sociology and minors in History and Chicanx Studies. Jasmin is happy to be back in Pasadena and currently works as a College Mentor for the Pasadena City College Upward Bound Program and is excited to start her role as College Program Coordinator with Stars.

During her free time, Jasmin enjoys spending time with family and friends. You might find Jasmin hiking around the different hiking trails in Pasadena/Altadena during the weekends. At the start of the pandemic, she began roller skating and tries to practice as much as she can. She also enjoys going to concerts and likes pineapple on pizza
